Alongside Perry Ellis’ creative director Michael Maccari, we get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the creative process leading up to the American brand’s 2016 fall/winter showing. Keeping the hallmark Perry Ellis aesthetic alive, an exploration in colors and textures results in an illusion of distortion. This becomes visible at close range, in comparison to a refined minimalist approach when looked upon at a distance. Maccari credits some of the range’s inspiration to American painter Richard Diebenkorn — a famous abstract expressionist with a keen attention to detail and well-known affinity for the outdoors.
